Final weekend I went to the Style of North Backyard Winemakers Dinner with my mom in legislation! Right here’s the recap.
I really like a theme dinner!
This previous Friday night time, I took my mom in legislation to the Style of North Backyard Winemakers Dinner as a belated seventieth birthday present! She lives in North Backyard, the place Thomas grew up, so this was the right setting for us to get pleasure from dinner collectively!
The dinner paired wines and ciders from Knowledge Oak Vineyard, Loving Cup Winery & Vineyard, and Albemarle Ciderworks together with meals ready by native North Backyard Chef, Ian Rubenoff. Ian and Thomas had been elementary college classmates!
Style of North Backyard Winemakers Dinner
We arrived at Albemarle Ciderworks on a cool, foggy night and had been greeted with a glass of brut d’albemarle.
Hors d’Oeuvres
Smoked Alaskan salmon dip on a rye cracker with cherry compote.
Wine Pairings
Paired with the brut and the sparking rosé brute nature from Knowledge Oak.
Remarks
We heard some remarks from the winemakers and toasted to the North Backyard group.
First Course
Blue crab stuffed roasted portobello with child greens (from Ian’s mother’s backyard!) and an avocado and cherry tomato salad on prime. Cherished this and ate each chew!
Wine Pairings
Paired with the Loving Cup White and the Royal Pippin Cider.
Second Course
Crispy pork stomach with chipotle honey served with a charred leek and mushroom tamale and garlicky greens. This was the most effective pork stomach dishes I’ve ever had! I really like tamales, too.
Wine Pairings
Knowledge Oak’s Cabernet Franc and the Loving Cup Pink. I cherished each reds, as they had been “very Virginia” in one of the simplest ways!
Dessert Course
My favourite course!! We had been served a walnut buckwheat toffee cake with a rhubarb dulce de leche and a cream cheese ice cream. The ice cream was completely melty and tasted like cheesecake! I used to be obsessed and need I may have it on the common.
Wine Pairings
With the toffee cake we loved a Virginia Maiden Cyser, which is a cider meade collab with Black Heath Meadery out of Richmond.
Such a particular dinner – I hope we are able to do it once more subsequent 12 months!
